Athlete Code of Conduct

In addition to Gymnastics Australia's General Code of Behaviour, it is crucial for all participants to adhere to the following conduct requirements during any activity organised or sanctioned by Gymnastics Australia, a Member Association, or an affiliated club:

  1. Respect: Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of your fellow athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators. Treat everyone with fairness, kindness, and consideration.

  2. Non-Aggression: Refrain from engaging in acts of aggression. Create a safe and supportive environment by promoting positive interactions and resolving conflicts peacefully.

  3. Recognition of Talent: Acknowledge and respect the talent, potential, and development of your fellow athletes and competitors. Embrace a spirit of healthy competition and support each other's growth.

  4. Equipment Care: Take responsibility for the equipment provided to you as part of your program. Treat it with care and respect, ensuring its proper use and maintenance.

  5. Open Communication: Maintain open and honest communication with your coach regarding any illness, injury, or concerns that may affect your training. Be transparent about your ability to fully participate in the program requirements.

  6. Professional Boundaries: Avoid engaging in intimate relationships with your coach. Maintain a professional relationship built on trust, respect, and focused on athletic development.

  7. Professional Conduct: Conduct yourself in a professional manner, exhibiting appropriate language, temperament, and punctuality. Demonstrate high personal behaviour standards both on and off the training floor.

  8. Integrity: Uphold high personal behaviour standards at all times. Show integrity, honesty, and sportsmanship in your actions and interactions.

  9. Respect for Officials: Abide by the rules of the sport and respect the decisions made by officials. If necessary, follow the formal process for appeals while maintaining respect for the final decision.

  10. Commitment to Training: Approach training with honesty, dedication, and a positive attitude. Work equally hard for your personal improvement and the benefit of your team.

  11. Cooperation in Development Programs: Cooperate with coaches and staff in development programs designed to adequately prepare you for competition at the highest level. Engage actively in training and embrace the guidance provided to maximise your potential.

By adhering to these conduct requirements, you contribute to creating a positive and supportive environment for all participants in gymnastics. Together, we can promote the growth, development, and success of each athlete.
